Located near the equator, the constellation of Orion is visible from both hemispheres. Emblematic of our winter sky, it remains relatively low above the horizon. To photograph it in the best conditions, we therefore traveled to Chile to take advantage of the beautiful sky of the Hacienda des Etoiles, in the Ovalle region. We can clearly recognize the 3 stars of the Orion belt, almost perfectly aligned and forming an asterism. The lower star, Alnitak, is close to the Horse Head Nebulae (IC 434) and the Flame (NGC 2024). To the right is the spectacular Orion nebula (M42), visible to the naked eye.
